Philosophy
Gorgon Arts is Robert Stansfield - I paint what I see around me on the
banks of the Gironde Estuary. I like sun sets.
I am
influenced by many things which, is why I have an eclectic style. This
combined with no formal training means I paint unconventionally with
many and different paints and materials. I very rarely use a brush.
I
like Augustus John, Leonardo da Vinci and Rodin. Equally I like modern
and contemporary art and a combination of the two. I like Japanese art
and clean simple lines not overly worked detail.
I am
interested in art as an addition to the environment in which it
resides. It can accentuate and be a focus but should not in my opinion
dominate.
I
don’t analyse art – I don’t elevate it to great heights nor do I
discount it as rubbish if I don’t understand it - it is what is to you
– no more and no less, you like it or you don’t!
